I pulled a Formula Ford last year to several long distance sites (South
Alabama and Savannah) in very hot weather. The trailer was an open tandem
that I built. With car, spares and trailer, I figure total weight at around
2500 lb.. The wife's Jeep Cherokee pulled it like a plow horse. We ran 75 to
80 effortlessly. It didn't like the cruise except on relatively flat ground.
Wanted to downshift too much. I wouldn't try pulling an enclosed trailer
though, unless you did a lot to the suspension. Even then ...... I still
wouldn't do it.
