I'll defer to a better informed lister if someone replies, but DOT 3 would be safest. DOT 4 may rot seals. DOT 5 is expensive if you have a leak and not as useful in clutch applications as brakes. Qu

So if my fluid is purple (which I am pretty sure it is) I shouldn't have topped up with the stuff I did - which I think was standard stuff. And the PO replacing the standard pipes with copper wasn't

No, James, topping up with normal brake fluid if the system is currently full of silicone was not a good thing to do!! I have a feeling you may need to clear out ALL the fluid in the system at the mo

Whatever you do, don't use an Eezibleed with a fully inflated tyre - drop the pressure to 5 or at most 10psi before connecting. Otherwise there is a good chance that the cap will be blown off the mas
