I just read that Mazda are bringing out a new model of MX5 (which most people here call a Miata, right?) that will bring it's power up to about 112kw, IIRC. So now it's on par with a Solex 2000? Has

The new 2001 Miata has 155 HP SAE. I doubt that most Roadsters, including Solex models, would be able to keep up with it although off the line the Roadster might be able to take it because of torque

I am not sure what model it was, or if it was stock, but I quite easily walked away from a Miata. I have a 67 pushrod 2L, 5spd bored .040 over, with free flowing exhaust and 240Z carbs, ported head,

That's exactly right and a point I was going to bring up. Those 150HP Solexes are SAE GROSS HP figures, not NET figures as used today. For us older guys remember when in 1972 all the HP figures drop

Yes I've heard that they use net hp today. But wasn't the stock 2L listed as 135HP? (Not 125HP.) So you couldn't possibly mean that net HP is closer to 100HP. More likely 110-115? Also, I've heard L

There have to be many out there who own both a 'stock' Roadster and a 'stock' Miata (I do...) I'm quite sure I could run slightly better autocross lap times in the Miata, but not a lot better. Maybe
