For those of you interested. Here's some more info regarding how many sidecurtain cars might be left. Jon Korbin, registrar of VTR reported that he currently has 8800 sidecurtain TRs in a database.

That's all well and good, but I'm not sure it's applicable in every state. For example, in New York it was not until the 1973 model year that cars first registered in New York were given a "title"; p

This number can't possible be valid. If you remove the number of cars that have been parted out with out being scrapped, it would be even lower! I'll bet that they're basing their estimate on compute
