Listers,

I am diving into my first engine re-build and I am reading Haynes, Bently,
magazines and whatever else I come across related to re-building a TR6
engine.
I was wondering if anyone can list the items that should "absolutely" be
replaced during a re-build. I plan on checking everything for wear, making a
list of parts, and ordering all at once from one of the big three (probably
the TRF's Winter Parts Sale for maximum discount).

Please add to the following list (tips welcome):

1. All gaskets (of course)
2. Piston Rings
3. Valves (replace w/ hardened)
4. Valve guides (replace w/ hardened)
5. Tappets
6. I know I will need to get my crankshaft turned down, so I will need
oversized bearings.
7. If Timing chain is worn (stretched), should I replace gears?
8. Camshaft (if worn)
9. Rocker Shaft (probably worn)
10. Replace Rocker Shaft spacer springs with solid spacers (is this
recommended?)
11. Add a external oil hose to feed the top of the engine (I was told that
our engines are starved for oil, and that this addition would help)
12. Is it OK to use the same bolts over again or should I definately use new
bolts on bearing caps and ?????
13.
14.
15.

Thanks,
Wayne
