See you on course.

plus, a newbee, how many newbees or anyone for that matter does not know
what mods they have on there car, and the ones that cheat will get prosted
all the same, now that will be harder, a protest, shucks.
the protester needs to actually figure out if the car is over it's limit in
points, not just point to a hole in the carpet and grunt (ugh illegal)

but imagine how frustrating it must for a driver that comes out for his
first time with a +1 size wheel (no performance advantage)
and finds out he now has to run in SP against cars that are nothing like
his, and REALLY fast to boot. I can tell you, you probally never see him
again, now if he can see the progression of classes, he will not be punished
he can see oh well I can do this and this and my car will be compeditive.
there will no longer be dominant cars, because you can allways add or
subtract points.

I run in a few clubs around here The M club for one (they allow ALL cars to
run and use a points system) and the marque Clubs, I'll give you an example
of how my first time signing up went.

(this was after a few of SCCA events)

Reg person. What Class?

me. B-stock
reg. oh we run a diffrent type of system here
me. oh really?
reg. yes, lemme see your driving a Z3 4 cyl right?
me. yes
reg. ok that's 50 points, any mods?
me. well I changed the shocks, brake pads, and I have R-tires
reg. ok lets see 50 + 2 points for the shocks +1 for the brake pads, +10 for
the R-tires, they make a big diffrence you know. ok that's 63 points, you
stay in class C, but anything else bumps you up to b.

me. Ok thanks.

My first time @ SCCA

reg. what class.
me. I don't know
reg. what type of car?
me. Z3 1.9
reg. stock?
me, well I have stock wheels from a 318ti so yea
reg. no you need the same wheels your car came with, +/- 1/4" offset.
me. ohhhhh kay, well you wan't to look at the car and tell me
reg. I don't know what wheels your car came with
me. I guess.
reg. well you really can't run in stock
me why.
reg. well you took your foglights out, that'll bump you into prepaired.
me. It's a stinkin foglight
reg. rules are rules.

Needles to say I bought a rulebook and had to study for a week and 1/2 to
understand them but I found out All I needed to do is put the foglights
back.
