I saw some Harbour Freight cones yesterday for about $4.99 each that were teh
18" size but lighter bases and thinner material for the cone.B Neat and cheap
but I think these lightweight cones would be hard to stay put on windy days or
when an A-Mod car with big wings go by too quickly.

I too think the 12" cones are sufficient and less prone to being knocked over
in high wind conditions.B They are also easier to store and easier to carry
when the event is over.

I've driven karts to fender cars over the years and the 12" cones are plenty
visible.B I think it should be proposed as a new standard.

I don't agree. B In fact, from the perspective of a low car like a Seven or a
formula car, a lot full of 12" cones is a easier to read than a lot full of
18" cones. B The taller the cones, thicker the forest.

Best cones we ever had were some 12" soft yellow ones that were molded out of
what seemed like pencil erasers. B These suckers would roll under a car and
pop out the other side with no damage to either.

I agree with my son Alan that the solid-base cones ought not be allowed on an
autocross course.
