Andy has a good point. And the Manufacturers agree with him. That is one 
concept for the hybrid vehicles. The engine runs at it's most efficient, only 
when needed to boost electric output. There are lots of completely different 
approaches to gas/electric hybrid vehicles. - Sth Emerson
