Definitely,
Navid has a good point. Anyone can go bum a ride off someone in the
first run group if they ask nice. Unless it becomes a mob, which I
highly doubt, it really isn't a problem, or unobtainable (unfair)
advantage.

True in other cases: Say Honda made 5 Civic Si-R-typeS-iVTEC models.
Unfair advantage for those 5 people cuz others can't obtain them. Hence
the min. production rule.

It could actually become a disadvantage as well. If I go ride with my
friend in his FWD and then jump into my MR2 and follow his line I'll
most likely spin. I think as much advantage is obtained from asking a
fast person how they took each corner as is from riding with them.

What about watching someone's in car camera? Hey! we could get this big
screen and show it to everyone, then we could webcast it so those at
home that run in the afternoon wouldn't be at a disadvantage.... :P

I understand it at the national/divisional level, but not locally. In
some cars the passenger might even be an advantage to the driver, which
is yet another issue I've heard people complain about. Though the
advantage/disadvantage seems to vary by opinion, and mostly by how the
complaining party happened to finish that day :)
