When I had to replace my TR7's electronic ignition, the local British
Car parts place had a Purlex unit. I had never heard of Purlex, and
when I got the $110 part, it came in a box about 2" x 2" x 1". But
it works great. No moving parts to speak of, installs in 10-30 minutes
(depending on how cautious you are).
Oh yeah, it's a generic aftermarket type part, that's designed to fit
*over* the innards of a points unit, so you can replace a non-electronic
ignition system with one.
