If you plug in the 1600's 1.00 top gear ratio and a 3.889 rear end (which was 
stock) and
use a rolling circumference of 72.9 inches (I don't remember how I got to that 
number, and
I didn't capture the calcs  in my spreadsheet), you find that 3500 rpm in top 
is about 62
mph, vice 72 mph for the 2000 running in an overdrive .852 5th gear.
