Gentlemen:
One thing to note here - the Putzke tube shock conversion kit still uses the
rear shock mount plate on the frame. A riser bracket is bolted to it that
furnishes the upper shock mounting point for the Bilstein shock. Much the
same forces would be applied to the frame bracket as with the stock set-up.
I had this happen to me on a BT7 I owned a long time ago - the holes were
slighty ovaled by the time I found out where all the clunking and banging
were coming from. Not knowing any better at the time, I 'mega torqued' the
mounting bolts and nuts - end of problem. Today, being older and not much
wiser, I might consider replacing the frame bracket as another lister
suggested.
As long as the damage doesn't seem to severe, try the 'mega torque'
procedure - if it works, you're done. If not, go to plan 'B' with plenty of
cold beer to assist with the pain.

Yep, probably the worst design flaw on a healey.
wrong shock mounts.
The trick with them is to tighten them down with mega
torque. It actually works... they have to be very
tight but it will hold. If you can use a nylock nut
on it, that should help it from getting loose.
Don't bother trying to fix the oval hole problems, it
won't make the problem going away. Only mega torque,
checked regularly, will prevent the problem from
arising again.
Not much else you can do about it aside from putting
udo putzke's rear shock kit on it.
