I think 160 is too cold, Ned, that's why I went back to a 190. With the
cooler thermostat, on cold mornings I actually had to block part of the
radiator to get the engine up to temp.
It's something of a myth that a lower temp thermostat will help with
overheating problems. All it really does is make it to a wide open
condition sooner, and once it's wide open it has no ability to control the
upper temp limit.

Since I have rebuilt the engine and installed a Texas Cooler fan, my engine
temp has dropped 10-15 degrees. I attribute this to a very thorough chemical
cleaning of the block when it was rebored. I have a 160 degree thermostat
and it runs at 160 on cold nights. Is this too cold?

Bob Yule put a 6 blade in my BJ8, and it's suppose to pull more
air, but I still don't get full cooling in the summer.
Stop and go traffic is
still a problem. I always thought the only solution was adding additional
tubes to the core (or maybe some Water Wetter).
I don't know if Bob got the 6
blade from the Nock's or from the U.K. It seems to be very high quality, but
so was my 4 blade.
