Yes, I paint the length of the strip.  Waxoyl is such that that it 'reflows'
when it gets hot like in the summer sun, so I reckon any scrapes will get
recovered.  You'll be wiping off runs for a few days.

        Do you also try to put Waxoyl along the entire inside of the strips to
keep water from collecting behind the lower lip?  I don't know if that's
overkill or not (is there such a thing a overkill when applying Waxoyl)  My
only worry about Waxoyl on the snaps is that the trim strips would scrap it
off in the process of pressing it on.
