The light is just a warning, you must have something wrong.

If you have a tester that will check 12 volts dc, nows your time to get to
use it.

Start it up and under idle see what the voltage is at the battery(ies) check
I beleave it should be about 15 volts if the alternater is putting out the
correct amount of lucaside, if not , well one of thease days you will take a
long drive and not come home untill late at night and need the lights, the
defroster, and of course have to have tunes.  Only you might not make it, at
least not without experiancing the mystic of the MG. Oh you'll get home, just
have to do it with a pair of jumper cables to get you going and a good friend
to follow for the next occasional boost in the middle of the unexpected
intersection.  Try not to burn your lights to much it'll help, trust me!
