If you are showing your car and concerned with originality, you need a
copy of "Original MGB" by Anders Clausager. It has detailed descriptions
of model year differences, dozens of great photos, and a section on
accessories. Not every question can be conclusively answered due to lack
of documentation at the factory and the great deal of latitude allowed to
dealers at the time, but it would give you a good idea where to start and
an authoritative basis for your decisions.
I don't know if he has an equivalent book for Midgets, but there are ones
for T-series, MGA, and Austin-Healey.
