All you need to do is to back off the tie rod lock nut.
Unscrew the tie rod from the outer ball joint unit, taking care to count the
number of turns as you do this. ( the tie rod will rotate inside the
gaiter - if not, cut the gaiter)
Remove the lock nut.
Remove old gator, replace with new, but leave small end unclamped at this
stage.
Replace lock nut.
Screw tie rod back into ball joint unit same number of turns that you
unscrewed,
Tighten locknut
Tighten clamp at small end of gaitor.
No need to remove ball joint from steering arm.
