Well, even if I used a solvent, I would still put 
oil in it and pressurize the oil system before 
starting.  Bearings and valve guides will be 
lubricated with oil, with perhaps a slight trace 
of solvent.  Then the quick oil change should 
take care of that.  I agree that kerosene would 
be a particularly low risk choice.
