Hi Bill,

This new Spit is proving that I have a lot to learn... throwing up new
challenges... I'm loving it....

The voltage regulator is the big black box right? Looks brand new...
perhaps its just a dud... although.... i do remember that there was a
suspect black cable with a fuse that was lying in the battery box... I
shall have to observe the gauges more carefully... the fuel tends to
stick around the 3/4 full mark - and moves towards the full mark as the
fuel goes down.... hmmm... perhaps the connector on the sender is on the
wrong way....

The temp gauge goes up to full - although today it seemed to be working...

I think I am starting to agree with the gear change.. as I have got more
used to it... its just the combination of the treacle like free movement
and the stick itself wobbles - so I am not able to get the precision...

Regarding the lock... I took a further look at it today... the lock
mechanism itself (barrel with 2 fork things sticking out) seems to have
siezed or something... not entirely sure...
