On Mk I, II, III, the stabalizer is located to the left and above the fuse
panel.  At least, on LHD vehicles, not sure about the wiring of cars for the
home market.

Hi James,
    Sorry - when I said regulator, I should have said stabiliser. It's a
small device fitted somewhere around the back of the speedo. It's some time
since I took apart a Spitfire so I can't remember the exact location. The
voltage is stabilised (regulated, hence my wrong wording) to 10 volts, which
is what the fuel and temperature gauges require.
