I have made large sections of harness to include a conversion from dynamo to 
alternator, electronic ign, headlamp relay.  I use correctly rated wire of 
the correct colour pattern that I buy new here in the UK (But Ed of JustBrits 
may have some for sale).  I use brass bullet connectors which I solder and 
semi-crimp.  I use new bullet connectors.  I can't recall having electrical 
problems other than with bodges that I made over a decade ok.  Car is a 69.  
If I was doing the work again or from scratch I would definitely use multi 
pin aerospace connectors.
