No, my guess is, that at 6 years old it has over 100k miles, and all the
parts on that GM are at the end of their expected life span. One by one
they will all fail in an expensive way, If the water pump is gone, the
timing chain ain't far behind, oh, and the tensioned, the oxygen sensor, the
front & rear main seals, and all of the fuel injectors. Time to sell it to
the u-pull for $300 and buy a new one. You think I jest, here is Kelly
trade in value from www.kbb.com $1565 in fair condition. subtract the $675
water pump, and you're at $900, subtract the frustration factor, and the
$300 is a deal.

P.S. at $80 an hour shop labor, $675 is pretty reasonable. Try changing the
waterpump on an old SAAB, or a Triumph TR7... I think the head has to come
off on those.
