Have to add my two cents worth. Back in the 60's I drag raced my Tiger a lot.
I had the engine out about a zillion times. I took it out by myself most of
the time. And I could do it in about 2 hors or less. Took more time if I had
help.Go figure. Here is how I did it.
Remove hood, radiator, generator and nbracket, water pump, intake manifold.Go
under car and remove two bottom bell housing bolts, loosen starter, unbolt the
slave cylinder. Remove header bolts. Hook lifting chain to front and back
(diagonally) of heads. Hook chain hoist and take up tension. Remove motor
mounts and headers (what a bear!). Lower the engine assembly a little, just
enough to get to the upper bell housing bolts. Put a floor jack under the
tranny. Lift the engine and pull forward to separate the bell housing and
block. Lift some more, wiggling the motor. Keep lifting. When it all come free
and is just hanging in the engine compartment twist the motor about 20
degrees. It will come right out. no sweat.

I do not recommend this method for a 100 point car. You really bump things and
mash fingers. And when the engine is hot, YEOW!!

Putting it back is the reverse. I was only 25 then and much more flexible and
mean so could do things like this. On a good day, I could do it alone in an
hour and a half. Not today.
