First, thanks to all who responded with explanations about
the installation of the draught excluders & fuzzy trim--consensus
is that it is continuous around the door opening up to top of
windscreen frame. I am using the TR-6 part, others tell me
they find this to fit better (allows doors to close better) than
replacements for original TR-4 parts which fit into a channel around
the door opening. I was reminded to cut it an inch or so long, to
allow some "shrinkage".
Today, I have a new question--my car ('67 TR-4A) has two (identical)
license plate lamp assemblies, each mounted on a cast aluminum
(or pot metal) pedestal which bolts to the boot lid. These
lamp assemblies are almost rectangular, one side convex, with
a glass lens and a chrome cover. These mount below the license
plate and point (I assume) up. The pedestals they mount on
have a tilted top surface to direct the light onto the llicense plate.
Now, I can't find these lamps in Moss or VB catalog. Rimmer just lists
lamps, without photos or sketches. The sketches I see in the other
two catalogs are different, a simple circular lamp for the TR-4A.
(There are no sketches of the aluminum pedestals, either, but I
can repair mine.)
The sketch that looks closest to my lamps is the license plate lamp for
the TR-3.
Can anyone tell me which lamps I need to buy (or does anyone have
one or two good used ones they will part with?
Also, is there a plinth between the aluminum pedestals and the
boot lid? (The pedestals are painted, not chrome).
