Netscape does both. I usually have a News window as well as an Email
window up all day. (And I don't even use Netscape or even Windows for
that matter!)

Social problem. Those who are likely to drop everything and respond to
an Email are just as likely to have a news window open at the same time.
Those who aren't, won't!
