Jack,

If all you are going to run off of it is the gauges I would recommend
Randall's suggestion of using an IC voltage regulator.  (I take it this
isn't for a TR)  Gauges only use a small fraction of an amp each.  All the
gauges together will use less than an amp and your Volta-drop won't work
like you want it to.
