Another solution might be to buy a big 'strap wrench'.  I got one for
removing stuck lathe chucks, it works quite well.  Believe it was a set of
two on sale at Sears for $20 back around Christmas.

On my TR3A, which has no hub extension, nothing to grasp, I usually just put
a box-end wrench on the bolt head, turn the engine up against compression,
and whack the wrench.  First with my hand, if that doesn't work it's BFH
time.
