They're cheap so buy a set of standard and a set of +5. Then you can put
in either 2 standard, two +5 or one of each to get the end float you want.
I used one of each on my car and got the end float to .003

I don't think it will make any difference at all.

off?

Whilst you have the sump off you may as well replace the main and crank
bearings. Since you are at about 60,000 they will be down to copper
starting to show. The job is not tough but the #1 main will damage the
gasket between the block and the front plate. Since you have the cam chain
cover off anyway you have the option of pulling the front cover and doing
it right. I replaced my crank bearings and oil pump a couple of years ago
and my lack-luster oil pressure was transformed to sommething to brag
about. You won't regret it.

Bearings will cost you about $60, a gasket kit (which you will likely need
anyway) will be $25 - 30, an oil pump (if you decide to do it) will be
about $100 (check with BPNW) and you's already commited to thrust washers
(which are about $5 a set).

Do it all and be done with it. If you can't afford it now it can wait a
couple of years but don't piecemeal it.

Dave
