Tom, I can't offer personal testimony but only what I believe to be reliable
hearsay. A friend of mine in the UK regularly campaigns a GT6 Mk3 and a 2000
Mk 1 saloon on classic rallies throughout Europe. He's done very well with
the GT6 and about a year ago came third overall and first in his class in a
field of more than 130 cars. Did most of the event without a windscreen. It
broke on the second day of the event and he did another 1500 miles without
one and mostly in pouring rain!!!!!

Anyway, (the now very wet GT6 owner and driver) swears by green pads. He
doesn't claim they offer better braking but says they definitely last
longer. On the last three events he's used brake pads in quantities. For the
first two events, he used four sets of normal pads on the front but claims
on the last (3rd) event - where driving on mountain passes in Switzerland
and the Pyrenees at speed, the set of green pads he fitted at the start
lasted the whole event. Mind you, I'm not too sure how often he used the
brakes in anger. Having driven with him when he was 'practising' I know he
can do some quite dramatic stops by just sliding the car sideways and his
tyre consumption - as it may relate to Mr. Dunlop or Monsieur Michelin - can
best be described as "encouraging."
