Jim, It is no Joke at all. In fact, I have the Spitfire script attached
that way on the boot lid. I did that because it is broken in the center and
the posts won't hold it in place. Usint the Trim tape, it has stayed
attached over 5 years and shows no sign of coming off easily. So when I
attached the Spitfire Script to the other Spit I have, I did it the same
way.

If I had thought about it before drilling the holes, I would have attached
all the letters in the same manner. They stay in place far better using the
3M double stick tape much better than those little clips. After losing one
letter on the bonnet, I removed the clips and stuck them on using the 3M
tape and they are still attached after several years and lots of miles.

The Trim tape is what most of the auto manufacturers use today for attaching
things to bodies. Once you get it on, it is there to stay.

That is what it was designed for. I am not talking about the double stick
tape you buy at the local five and ten cent store, but the stuff sold at
auto body supply shops.

You will have to do a great deal of trimming so that the tape does not show
but when it is done, you will see for yourself whar a great deal it is.

It sure makes attaching the things much safer in the long run. The thought
of drilling an incorrect hole makes me cringe.

Joe

letters to the bonnet of a car on display at a show, and then the letters
would be removed for the trip home. Surely they aren't left attached that
way for a car that might be driven in (heaven forbid!) rain.
