Hell - I towed for years with a trailer I built out of planks and wire - a
central stanchion held up the centre of the cable, which in turn anchored the
ends of the 2 x 12 that was the trailer bed. Can't get much lighter than that!
No one can tell without looking at a specific unit whether you will have
problems or no, but about all you can do is rely on the ratings. Should work
out alright.
