I have to agree that in mass production, building a "new" MG probably
wouldn't fly. However, there are folks out there (me, for instance) who
would seriously consider a car that was built of as many new parts as
possible. I guess the reason for that is that is exactly what I'm going to
end up with when I'm done with my '72 B. <g> Judging by the numbers I've
run on various restoration ideas I've had, I think you'd find yourself
spending at least $20-25k on parts alone. I don't know how much you'd want
to keep for yourself after building them by hand, but if it was only $5000
(which seems extremely generous to me), you're still talking about a $30,000
"new" 40 year-old car. There are people in the world that will buy just
about anything (take a look at the Robb Report sometime), but the question
is, how many of them are there?
