Maine first time registration of used vehicle requires payment of 5.5% use tax
based on purchase price of vehicle. Title $20, if transferable certificate. If
no certificate (old car) and you want title, there is a special application that
must be filed with photos and affidavits.
Registration is $20.
Annually thereafter an excise tax must be paid to your municipality. The amount
for LBCs is negligable, viz. <$25.
Certificate of Insurance required at time of registration.
