In Singapore, every 10 years you need to buy a new Certificate of
Entitlement, which allows you to own the car for another 10 years.
At the end of that time you either get to spend about another $10-30,000
on a new COE, or send the car to the junker.
You don't see many old LBCs in Singapore, though the ones there are in
pretty nice shape. One day after a bike ride I noticed a couple minis
at the restaurant next door to where we met for the ride. I thought that
was either quite a coincidence, or the mini club. The arrival of several
more minis confirmed the latter suspiscion.
