Don't think so 'cuz "this isn't gear grinding on gear, it is as if something
is blocking the stick shift from moving forward into gear."  If it were some
drag causing the input shaft to spin there would be considerable grinding of
gears when trying to engage first or reverse (neither of which has synchro.)
