     Ok, so my tongue was somewhat in my cheek when I posted the note 
     yesterday about the dual fuel pumps, but it's not as crazy as some 
     thought.
     
     First, I  did mean to mount the pumps in series, with the outlet of 
     one feeding directly into the inlet of the second.  Only one would be 
     powered at a time.
     
     Both the types of pumps mentioned do not have mechanically driven 
     valves, rather, the flow of the fuel opens and closes these check 
     valves.  If unpowered, fuel should flow through them in the right 
     direction.  Yes, there might be a little more restriction on flow from 
     the unpowered pump, but that might not be significant.
     
     If they were in parallel, and the check valves in one were to get 
     stuck open because of debris, or broke, then you would get backflow 
     when the other pump operated.  
     
     I probably won't do it, but it's something to consider for the truly 
     paranoid.
