They test a standard-equipped Boxster at approx $42K versus a standard-
equipped MR2 Spyder at approx $23K and you think this is unfair in some
way to the *Boxster*??? Puh-leez. :-)

The Boxster would certainly have done better in the handling and possibly
in the braking test with the *optional* 17's, but the acceleration would
almost certainly been slightly slower. I remember doing testing on a
2.8 BMW Z3 that was fully .25 slower (same vehicle) to sixty with the 17's
versus the 16 inch wheels due to a combination of less forward traction
and higher weight/inertia.

BTW, I expect the 3.0L Z3 is going to be very strong in AS this year.
Gonna give you some competition besides those Boxsters on their
optional 17's. ;-)
