  My 1975 was missing it when I got it, and I installed
a factory one from a junkyard.

  VERY noticeable handling increase, all for a half
hours work and some pocket change. I am very happy with
the "factory" diameter.

  As mentioned, the older ones might not have the holes
drilled, which might be a bit of a problem since accuracy
is pretty important.
