This is interesting. I have noticed that when the engine is colder (after a
start or letting it sit for an hour or two then getting back in for another
drive) the slipping/starvation/timing problem is not present. After at least
15-30 minutes of hard driving the problem returns.

After having the gearbox rebuilt we thought that perhaps the overdrive was
slipping and giving the weird problem but we found the overdrive to be meeting
all the specs for pressures and so on. We thought that perhaps after a warm
run the gearbox was losing oil pressure but this is not the case.

I had the fuel pressure checked at the time we were putting everything
together and we were running somewhere around 2psi.

I guess this points back to an electrical failure.

I will swap the coil, condenser and reset points gap this evening and report
back to you guys tomorrow.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

1st, the vac advance is only at ==idle== does almost nothing after that, the
condenser when it gets heated will break down, a few years ago in this country
all of our parts distibutors had a bad syock of condensers and we had
breakdowns nationwide, the coil failing to put out enough voltage with cause
the condenser to fail also, points not being open enough to fire at revs will
cause a big miss as will open to farwill cause it to not fire. Your timing is
correct so as to not hav any pinking, you also said it was a fresh engine so
this leaves valves out, now we are back where we started ==distributor ==.
some where in that circuit. "FT"
