TR4A IRS rear suspensions questions

I am replacing the rear shocks on my 67 TR4A IRS. The car is being used as a 
weekend driver, with an occassional extended (500 to 1.000 miles) road trip 
once or twice a summer. At the moment very reliable and nice highway cruiser.
What are the pros and cons of using poly vs. rubber bushings?
I know people on the spridget list swear off poly unless the car is being as 
a racer. Of course these are much lighter cars.

The PO had half way installed an aftermarket rear sway bar. I say halfway, 
because he never got to drilling holes in the frame and bolting down the 
rubber bushings. So bascially it has been hanging there doing nothing. The 
front of the sway bar is bolted to a bolt extending from below the coil 
spring. Should it be mounted here, or at the base of the shock links. It 
seems to me in the present location the only effect it will have is to 
stiffen the springs.
Does anyone have any experience with a rear sway bar?
