For what its worth:
I installed my old liners in the cleaned up, boiled out and line bored  
block. I had the sleeves bored (while clamped in the block) to 90 mm. I then  
bought, I think, 030 over the largest pistons I could buy, which was 90 mm. 
The engine does not run hot and is pretty powerful. I installed a hotter  
Isky camshaft, and it was a lot of fun-at first. I actually miss the smooth 
idle  
I used to have. As daily driver, I;d rather have the smooth idle than the  
power.
