Hey folks, Last weekend I adjusted the gap on my valves on the TR4. Got it all done...new gasket, etc. I still have a slight tap. Is this a native sound for the TRactor motor to have a slight tap, or

You're best bet is an alloy valve cover. Rocker noise is not uncommon in these motors but don't try to minimize it by reducing the clearance. But follow the book procedure as closely as you can (i.e.

The only way to get the tap out is to go to hydraulic lifters. If you adjust the tap all the way out you will probably burn a valve as it won't be closing completely. Yes, it is a native sound for a

Perfectly normal for all motors with mechanical lifters. If there is lash, it will make a little noise when the lifter closes up the gap. And it's essential to always have _some_ lash, under all con

My TR3 makes quite a clatter but it is quite composed at idle. I'm thinking the DPO who "overhauled" it used the old chain so I am going to install a new chain and tensioner in the hopes that that fi

It would be a major operation at best. Hydraulic lifters need a direct supply of pressurized oil, and there are no such oil holes in the TR blocks. Next you'll be wanting a Triumph that doesn't leak

Easy fix ... just buy the shortened pushrods from BFE and throw the shims in the trash. Others will no doubt disagree, but IMO there is never a good reason to change the height of the rocker pedesta

Contrary to popular opinion, the rocker geometry is set by the height of the pedestals and the length of the valves and the shape of the rockers. If you don't change those things, you will not chang
