WHAT!  The only way an Audi TT would lose out to a TR6 is if the gearbox was
stuck in 5th gear the entire time!  I've got the 1.8T motor in my Jetta (the
same exact engine configuration that is in the base TT, both rated at
180hp), and there is no way a TR6 could outpace my car, let alone a TT!
Even if he had the Tip gearbox, which I have as well, he still wouldn't have
lost out.  The torque spread on the 1.8T engine is marvelous, 174lb/ft from
1950RPM all the way through 5500RPM... and boy do you feel it.

I don't know what was plaguing that TT owner, but in the real world, TR6s do
not beat Audi TTs.
