But the *original* poster was speaking of class winning Street Prepared,
Prepared, and modified (not SM, as the original poster has now clarified)
cars. I thought the SM postings about driving their cars to work, while
admirable indications that you all were SM competitors in its finest,
truest sense, did *not* address the original poster's point. The
original posters point was that most class winning SP, P, and mod cars
were only enjoyed on race day. I think that is a valid point, based on
what I know about last year's class winning SP cars--on the other hand,
there are ones that I'm not sure about:

ASP--I don't know about the Marinus's RX7TT, but the ASPL winning Lotus
of Lisa and Rex Carle is certainly not their commuter car.
BSP--Does Danny drive his Corvette around town? Did Linay?
CSP--The Harnishes Honda is certainly not their daily driver, and I've
heard Heath McMillan talk about how un-fun it is to drive his any long
distance.
DSP--Do Steve Hoelscher and Tina Reeves drive their X1/9s around?
ESP--Mark Madarash's Trans Am and the Mustang Eileen Lindberg
drove...daily drivers?

Class winning Prepared and mod cars are even less likely to be enjoyed in
daily driving, no?

Your commuting reports seemed to be trying to dispute the original
poster's point about SP, P, and mod classes by inserting SM into the
discussion. This was not the point that person was trying to make, and
by inserting SM into the debate, you set up an easily disproven argument
to make your point (AKA, a straw man). The only problem was, your point
(SM cars *can* be enjoyed all week) was not the point the poster was
trying to make.

If you wanted to show that SM is a terrific, streetable class, just like
it was always intended to be, wonderful. You did that. It wasn't
particularly relevant to the argument at hand, and my post was trying to
get back to that argument.
