Tandems always tow better than singles because the wheels
kinda "walk" each other over the bumps rather than just "crashing"
into them. I've also been told that, all other things equal, (weight)
a dual axle will get better mileage than a single, not that most
of us would ever be able to measure such a thing.

I pulled an open trailer(Texas Bragg) with my Tiga FF behind a 1996 Ford
Ranger
3.0 V6 my first season of Autox. It was no problem at all. The secret is not
power
its brakes, sway control and an equalizer hitch. It was tandem axle and
actually pulled better with the FF on the trailer than empty??? I think the
tandem axle helps
a bunch. But then I never have towed a single either, So what do I know?????
