Interesting point. Looking at
http://ponycar.net/Solo2_National_Championship_Forecast.htm, the top 19 SS
entries, top SSL, 5 AS, 5 BS, and top CS would win SM2. The top 12 ASP, 1
ASPL, 12 BSP, 1 BSPL, 14 CSP, 2 DSP, 6 ESP, 2 FSP, and 13 SM would also win
SM2.

Although I'm *somewhat* agreement with your sentiment, it isn't being
granted full national championship status. If it gets 18 entries it would be
a supplemental class this year. Also, it's difficult for change to occur, so
I'm not sure that waiting till a class is as mature as SS, BSP, ASP is
reasonable. Furthermore, when there are large changes like the new AS class,
one might make the similar argument that AS shouldn't be granted full
national championship status (or FSP a couple years ago). I'm not sure that
I could go that far in supporting that.

Still, it's food for thought.
