Well, yes.  One more thing.  This actually happened to me once.

With the dual carburetor setup on my MGA, one of the throttle shaft
clamps between the carbs got loose.  Only one carburetor was opening
beyond idle.  With the balance tube in the intake manifold, the engine
ran almost perfectly normal under 3000 rpm.  At full throttle above 3500
rpm two cylinders were severly starved for air flow, and the result gave
the impression of running on only two cylinders.

Check the clamp(s) on the throttle shaft between the carbs.
