To the List:
I would to say thanks for all the opinions on whether a thermostat should
be or not be installed during the summer months. However, as you all
have read, there were more different opinions on the issue than I
realized and contrary to some comments, I have not read very many posting
on this issue and I have been on the list for about 3 months. So this may
have been posted in the past and carried to the "Nth" degree, but enough
opinions to keep it alive every so often.
What I have learned:
1. flush the system and replace with 50/50 solution (providing radiator
is ok and no other leaks or problems)
2. replace thermostat with a summer version (160)
3. replace the thermo control fan switch with a cooler themp switch,
and just drive!
