Dave,  

  Do you have the commission numbers of the two TR6s in question?
Do you know if they had the "Triumph" nameplate under the bumper?
I speculate that they were early 1974 TR6s, prior to CF27001, the
generally-accepted cutoff date between 74 & 74.5 TR6s.
