David, maybe it's fine. As I remember, the TR3A has what's sometimes called a 
"fly-off" handbrake. On these, you use the push button only to "set" the 
brake. A bit of a pull back on the lever (without touching the push button) 
will release it and allow it to return to the lowest position. Contrast this 
with the later cars that have a "fly-on" handbrake, where you simply pull up 
the handle to engage the handbrake and use the push button to disengage it.
